Twenty years ago, my best friend and I bought twelve acres of jungle near the best surf spot in Nicaragua. In the time since, we have turned a wily plot of savage terrain into a working organic farm, with more than 200 fruit and nut trees and a 200-foot well that supplies our water and feeds our trees through a sprawling irrigation system. It’s a yearly getaway, a retirement spot, a life’s work, and a bond between lifelong friends.
